Remaking Places, solo exhibition at the Showcase Gallery, 33-35 St John's Square, London, 20-23 July 2017
In Remaking Places my paintings investigate the human-made interruptions, forms and changes in the landscape, places that are hidden from view or overlooked. My encounters with these places may initially be fleeting or superficial: passing by or travelling over them, found on the internet and sourced through photographs.
Through the process of making my work, by research, drawing and painting, I'm able to visit and explore these landscapes which I can't get to in person. They evolve, forms are remade and remoulded, creating another world which is more personal, rather than existing at arm's length.
